3-Peat at the Masters

Will Asher recently won his 3rd consecutive Masters Slalom championship skiing his A1 through 5 at 39 ½” off.  It was three years ago that our Syndicate program introduced the A1 ski and since the introduction Will hasn’t missed a victory at the coveted Masters.  This was Will’s 4th overall title and the win puts him in some elite company in Masters Slalom history.

Making the finals this year wasn’t a guarantee, Will had an uncharacteristic fall in the semi-final round that put him on the bubble.  Luckily Will tied for the last spot in the finals and a run off ensued.  The conditions for the run off were the best of the weekend and he skied through 4 buoys at 41’ off.   Not one other skier came close to this mark all weekend and Will only needed to get the 5 at 39 for the victory.

As Will was the last man into the finals he was first off the dock.  After his run I watched him pace around, wondering if his mark would hold up for the victory.  You just never know, I asked Bob LaPoint what he thought and he just said, “If Will skied his best, no one could touch him.”  Bob was correct and whatever nerves had Will pacing around were finally replaced by smiles and high fives.

Congratulations to our 4 Time Masters Champion Will Asher!
