| Worden Spanked Collegiate Nats on new A2 |
2 weeks on a spankin' new A2 and Worden is spankin' the competition at Collegiate Nationals!
Zack Worden had 2 weeks until the Collegiate National Championships and he hadn’t slalomed in quite some time. He had been on a different ski, but decided to take a shot at riding a Syndicate A2 since he had rode an A1 a few years back and liked it. So Worden went out and bought one! Just like that. To say he was a dark-horse in slalom Collegiate Nationals is an understatement. Sure, the kid had won Junior Masters back in the day, but he’s been focusing on burning up the Pro Jump Tour in recent years. With a field of solid collegiate D1 Men’s Slalom skiers lookin for a piece of the pie, no one picked this “jump specialist” to podium. However, to the crowd’s amazement, Worden smoked his first few passes, and ran 38’off cleaner than everyone else’s 35’off passes. He ended up with a half buoy at 39 ½’ off. Everyone favored to take him down…didn’t. He put a score up that only one person all day managed to touch. In the end, Tyler Scott managed to edge Worden out by a half buoy, but just barely as Scott made a startling recovery midway through 38’off. We at HO gotta give props to Zack. Glad you’re digging the new stick!
